Stop driving immediately. This warning indicates a condition that can cause severe mechanical damage or create a safety hazard if ignored.
What it means
A critical brake system fault has been detected. This could indicate low brake fluid, a hydraulic failure, or engaged parking brake. Braking ability may be severely compromised. This is one of the most dangerous warning lights.
What to do
- 1First check: is the parking/emergency brake still engaged? Release it
- 2If parking brake is off: pull over immediately and do not drive
- 3Pump the brakes gently — if pedal goes to floor, call for a tow immediately
- 4Check brake fluid reservoir under the hood — if empty, there is a serious leak
