What it means

A seat belt in the vehicle is not fastened. Most modern vehicles chime and flash this light for the driver and front passenger. Some vehicles also monitor rear seats.

What to do
  1. 1Fasten all seatbelts before driving
  2. 2If the light stays on with all belts fastened, a seatbelt buckle sensor may be faulty
  3. 3Check that no objects are resting in the buckle (loose change, etc.)
  4. 4A faulty buckle sensor requires replacement — also disables pretensioner in a crash
