What it means

Four-wheel or all-wheel drive is currently engaged. This is normal and expected when 4WD is active. If this is an amber warning (not green), there may be a fault in the 4WD transfer case or engagement system.

What to do
  1. 1Green light: 4WD is engaged normally — remember to disengage on dry pavement (4H/4L)
  2. 2Driving 4WD on dry pavement causes drivetrain bind and accelerated wear
  3. 3Amber light: a fault has been detected — reduce speed and have it inspected
  4. 4Common fault cause: low transfer case fluid or a faulty engagement switch
